Tomato Paste is made from mature, red tomato varieties which have been washed and sorted for quality. The tomatoes are then chopped and quickly heated to deactivate enzymes to preserve viscosity. The heated juice is passed through a finisher to remove skin and seeds then evaporated under vacuum to a concentration of 24% Natural Tomato Soluble Solids. The finished paste has a bright red color and possesses a rich tomato flavor.
